If you follow me on Twitter, or are on my personal Facebook page than you know that I am one of those annoying “lyrics” people.
You know those who rather than give a minute by minute update about their dentist appointments will post lyrics to whatever song they’re obsessed with that day.
This isn’t the only thing I post — I do post nerdy things I find off of pinterest. But for the most part, I like posting lyrics from time to time because sometimes I just don’t have any words of my own, so I use music.
My love of music also knows very, very little boundaries. With the exception of perhaps Rap and Hip Hop, I will just about listen to anything. I will also listen to just about anything, back to back to each other. However, I’m not as bad as my little sister, I will sit and listen to what she’s listening to and within a very short time I will here Maroon 5, Foreigner, Frankie Valley, Queen and then some random Teeny Bopper song (Like that annoying “Call Me Maybe” song). No joke.
I don’t have a lot of room to talk though, because I’m just nearly as bad as she is. But I don’t really consider it a problem, just an amusing tick that seems to run in my family.
So for fun, I thought I would put together a quick list of all of the artists and groups I have been listening to this week. Also, can I just say — Spotify is the best thing since sliced bread. I really love using it and I even use a paid subscription now because it’s even better ad free. But really though, even just the free version beats Pandora (in my mind) and even if you really love Pandora, Spotify has a feature in it that works in the same way that Pandora works. So really, what’s not to love?
So, here’s who I’ve been listening to via Spotify this week accompanied by my current favorite song by that artist:
- Florence + The Machine — No Light, No Light
- Imagine Dragons — Demons
- Alison Krauss & Union Station — Dimming of the Day
- Gotye — Eyes Wide Open
- The Avett Brothers — Ten Thousand Words
- Jars of Clay — Closer
- Amos Lee — Flower
- Switchfoot — Sing it Out
- Billy Joel — The Downeaster “Alexa”
See, I told ya. There is no pattern. Just music that I love. Next week I will probably be listening to some of these same artist, but my current favorite song will be different. Or it could all change completely…
I created a “Friday Playlist” on Spotify and shared it via my Twitter account here.
